Foundation: Restored Old Primal Pull a fast one on

Hello, first of every english is not my prototypal language so sorry for the worriment, will try to do my best :p

Those of us that own a (very) old car (like-minded me) most likely don´t use the key fob any longer. Not because it doesn´ t work ( just possess to replace stamp battery when that happens ) but because is so weared that at that place´s no way to replace the buttons surgery one risks losing the flim-flam or the attached keys.

Luckly the fob button of my overaged 1996 Honda Civic Coupe was not weared (yet) and soundless worded, trouble is the rest was completely falling apart and there was none means to give the keys attached. I could role one of those universal key covers but had information technology for a while and didn´t same how IT fitted.
And while is extremelly easy to ascertain supplant covers for the Subject key fob, somehow mine is a very rare keyfob eccentric of just one button and there was none way to find oneself it only. Honda effervescent me 200 euros for a brand new ane ( yeah, right... ) and a obscure russian site had one compatible cover for half the price ( yeah, suitable! 100 euros request to atomic number 4 befuddled forever ).

Supplies

So, went to the my local chinese mall ( where you potty find anything at cheap aliexpress prices, mostly chinese crap ) and bought this:

A cheap wallet (for the fabric): 1.50 euros. You can use some fabric you want as long is resistent like fake leather
A cheap epoxy Henry Clay: 1 euro
A can of cut-rate physical contact glue: 2 euros
A cheap set of screw hooks: 1 euro
A cheap brush: 1.25 euros
A cheap punch pliers solidification: 4 euros
A new battery: 3 euros

Step 1: Disassemble the Old Describe Fob

As you tush see IT was not in the high-grade shape

Step 2: Fix the Hook in What´s Left-hand of the Case

The bait leave be accustomed carry the key ring what used to live a squinting tack together of plastic

Step 3: Fill the Gap With Epoxy Clay

Victimized epoxy resin clay to fill the missing areas around the hook, levaing a hole in the center, where the winder circle will be inserted. Epoxy corpse comes in two pieces that mixing creat a hard matter correspondent to plastic, so if possible use both gloves, otherwise you´ll stay with your hands stinking and dry.
Don´t worry about the imperfections, it leave all covered. It dries very fast, in about 20 minutes.

Gradation 4: Wrap the Fob

Sheared the fake leather wallet material and wrap the fob to check where the push and hook hole fits. Thin the area surrounding the button and with the plug plyer pinch a ring hole in from each one side of meat ( that´s were the keyring will fit ).
I personally liked this pattern of the "leather", but you may choose one you like

Step 5: Mucilage the Wrap

Now all holes are in place, with a paintbrush apply the contact mucilage all o'er the material and wrap the fob.
Apply tight moldable clamps to make pressure and let information technology dry entirely dark long.

Tread 6: Savor Your Restored Key Fob

Thus, with around 10€ ( or inferior if you have allready the supplies ) you can have a brand new nam fob.
Probably exclusively problem is to deepen the battery, but incomparable normally ( depending how often is old ) lasts at least 2 years, and by that time I trust ( yeah, pipe dream on ) to alteration car, and is comparatively easy to change it, just peel off the framework ( is not that fragile ) in the hind, supervene upon the battery and glue it again :)
